Sample Project Seven Project Objective: This is the case of a simple addition. The basic suburban
cape worked well for the clients - except for the kitchen,
which was one of the smallest and most awkwardly located
we've ever come across. The solution was to add a new,
eat-in kitchen to the back of the house. In addition to
providing a better kitchen, this addition served
several of the clients' other goals. It opened the house more
to views of the backyard stream. It allowed
for building a protected raised patio in the L-space it created,
and as the back yard sloped down, we were able to provide
the owner, an avid woodworker, with a shop below that
included a covered entrance for bringing in valuable
veneers.
